3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • be familiar with various methods of learning, use sources of information well, show functional literacy;
  • understand assignments or identify the cores of problems, exert variable solutions, work both independently and within a team;
  • communicate in one foreign language at the level of at least B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; 
  • cope with changing socio-economic conditions, be financially literate;
  • be aware of the labour market mechanisms, and of the employee-employer relationships, act on career decisions responsibly, understand the significance of lifelong learning;
  • use basic mathematics and the basic principles of physics and chemistry when needed in daily situations;
  • work with the means of information and communication technologies, exploit adequate sources of information, handle information effectively;
  • act in an environmentally-conscious manner and in compliance with strategies for sustainability;
  • support values of local, national, European and world cultures, recognize the value of life;
  • exert fundamentals of health protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and safety;
  • exert norms and prescriptions in the field.

Vocational competences:

  • select the balanced HW solutions with regard to their function, parameters and suitability for the intended use;
  • assemble and revival of assemblies including the peripheral devices;
  • secure HW fault detection & troubleshooting and upgrade;
  • select the appropriate operating system with regard to its intended use;
  • install, configure and manage the operating system in response to the user's objective needs;
  • design and apply an appropriate data security system protecting data from misuse and data protection against destruction;
  • select an appropriate software with regard to its intended use;
  • install, configure and manage an application software;
  • use common application software, especially the so-called office applications;
  • support users when working with the basic and application software;
  • design and implement computer networks with regard to their intended use;
  • secure network element configuration;
  • provide computer network administration;
  • arrange algorithmization of tasks and creation of applications in a development environment;
  • secure an implementation of database solutions;
  • create a website.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

Depending on the specialization of the school, graduates can find a job in particular in the areas of design, implementation and maintenance of HW solutions, application programming and development, installation and management of operating systems and application software, design, implementation and administration of networks, IT sales and related consultancy, general as well as specialized support for IT users.
Possible occupations for graduates are IT technician, user support specialist, programmer, application manager, operating system administrator, network administrator, IT equipment dealer, and so on.
